Introduction to Beautycounter’s Body Butter in Citrus Mimosa

When it comes to one of the most consistently applied skin care products to your face and body, like lotions and body butter, have you ever considered or asked yourself,

“Is what I am using actually causing more harm than good?  Do I even know the ingredients that make up the lotion or body butter that I am using?”

That is what I love about Beautycounter’s Body Butter.

They do ask themselves these questions, and many more, when considering what ingredients goes into their highly moisturizing Body Butter.

Let’s Talk About the Pros and Cons of Beautycounter’s Body Butter

This leads me to my first Pro about Beautycounter’s Body Butter, and all of Beautycounter’s products

Pros

  • Rigorous selection process
  • Rated a #1 by Environmental Working Group
  • Contains natural citrus fruit oil and peppermint
  • A little goes a long way
  • Doesn’t contain synthetic fragrance ingredients, which are linked to allergies, asthma, and hormone disruption.
  • 60 Day Return Policy – If it doesn’t do the job, if it doesn’t perform up to your standards, send it back for a full refund
  • Non greasy
  • Soaks in immediately, very light weight for a body butter, yet keeps the moisture in

Cons

I never used to use body butter because I always felt they were too thick and greasy, but after trying out Beautycounter’s Body Butter, I found that was not the case at all, and it still did it’s job, performed very well, keeping my skin moisturized all day long, whereas as other lotions wouldn’t do so.

  • So because of that, I have personally found no cons

WHO IS BEAUTYCOUNTER’S BODY BUTTER FOR?

It is great for all skin types, but for those with dry skin, they are the ones that will really see the biggest difference.

WHAT MAKES BEAUTYCOUNTER’S BODY BUTTER WORK SO WELL?

The shea butter and mongongo oil hydrate and nourish skin, while the organic sunflower oil, aloe and chamomile, soothe and smooth.

WHY IS BEAUTYCOUNTER’S BODY BUTTER SAFER?

For starters, Beautycounter’s Body Butter does not contain synthetic fragrance ingredients.  The reason, is that synthetic fragrance ingredients have been linked to health issues like allergies, asthma and hormone disruption.  Instead, Beautycounter uses natural citrus fruit oils and peppermint to lightly scent this nutrient-rich butter.

IN CONCLUSION

When I think about what I put on my body, especially when it comes to make up and skin care, Beautycounter continues to be at the top of my list because of the rigorous selection process, I know that I am making a safer and healthier choice for my family and I.  So that fact alone, Beautycounter’s Body Butter a huge leg up compared to other body butters out there.

But let’s face it ladies (and gentlemen), if the product doesn’t do what it is supposed to, than no matter how safe it is, it just doesn’t perform.

Again, from my own personal experience, Beautycounter’s Body Butter performs better than any other body butter I have used.

For those two reasons, Beautycounter’s Body Butter gets Balancing Point’s Seal of Approval.

First of all, I have never use any body lotions, myself, because as you said, most of them are thick and greasy, but as you recommended this product, I have couple of questions

    1. as a male, can I use this products for myself?

    2. How long will it take to response or get it work for me?

Sajeeth, first of all thank you for your comments and questions.  Yes, absolutely, as a man, you can definitely use it.  My husband uses it on a weekly basis and besides the Beautycounter Charcoal Bar and the Beautycounter Citrus Mimosa Body Bar, the Beautycounter Body Butter, is one of his favorites.  My husband and I are a big fans of Beautycounter in general becasuse they don’t use any harmful chemicals or ingredients.

And as far as how long will it take to work for you?  Well, that is a more complex question.  The reason being is that most people who think they suffer from dry skin are really suffering from dehydrated skin.  I am almost done writing an article on that exact topic, so I recommend coming back in a few days to read more about it.

In short, if you suffer from dehydrated skin and you are not consistently and adequately hydrating yourself, than the body butter will only last so long, and that goes for any lotion or body butter that you use.

It also depends on the type of climate you are in.  If you are in a more humid climate like myself, in southern Texas, than it can last a little longer than say someone living in Arizona, where the climate if more dry.

In general, it can last a couple of hours for sure.  I hope these answers help.  If not, please feel free to ask more.

Thank you for this recommendation! My skin is very sensitive, will lt work for me?

When it comes to food and body products, I’m very picky and try to only use clean products. I love the fact that this doesn’t contain synthetic fragrance ingredients – this is awesome! I hate putting all these chemicals on my skin!

I’m surprised that this product has a 60 Day Return Policy – this means that company is very confident about the quality of this products.

Soby, I completely understand.  My family and I are the same way.  When it comes to what goes in our bodies, and on our bodies, we make sure they are as clean of products as they can be.

Yes, when it comes to sensitive skin, Beautycounter Body Butter will be a great choice.  We have seen it cure Rosacea and we have seen it heal skin after undergoing chemo therapy, which makes skin very dry and scale-like.

As far as Beautycounter’s 60 day return policy, yes, they are a company that are truly confident and proud of their products, and I am a person that is confident and proud to stand behind them! 🙂

I have an extremely dry skin and have been using different products throughout my life. Some work better than others and some are just terrible (too greasy and/or not efficient at all).

This Beautycounter body butter seems to be a great option. I like the fact that it soaks in immediately and that it doesn’t contain synthetic fragrance ingredients.

Now, I do have a doubt (I’m sorry if it’s a silly question): what’s the difference between body lotions and body butter?

    Thank you so much!

Yeah I love that Beautycounter doesn’t use any synthetic fragrances as well, and unlike many Body Butters out there, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy.

The difference between body lotions and body butters is two fold:

      1) How they are made – Body Lotions are made with oil and water, where as body butters are made with oil and butter. For example, the Beautycounter Body Butter is made with Shea Butter and Mongongo Oil.

      2) Their Intended Use – Body Lotions are more light weight and therefore won’t last as long.  This is good for those with not so dry skin, whereas, Body Butter is heavier in weight and will last longer, and is preferred for those with dryer skin.

Thank you for your question and comment.  Please let me know if you have others.

Hi Mandy Thank-you for the information on Beautycounter Body Butter. I find in the winter especially my skin tends to get very dry. I find what works best for me is something that is greasy and thick. However I have found that combo to be quite messy so I would put it on at night and then wear something over it so I would not get moisturizer all over everything. That is a big con for me. Your Beautycounter Body Butter sounds like something I will be looking into some more. Again thanks for the great info!

Maureen, first of all thank you so much for commenting and being very open to share your own personal challenges.  Many folks out there can confuse dry skin with dehydrated skin.  The two are very different, and thus are cured or treated differently as well.

If your skin is only really dry during winter, I would encourage you to read my post about about the differences between the two different conditions.  It is very common for many people to become more dehydrated during the winter because their bodies feel cold, not hot like the spring and summer times.

I would first say, before trying any lotions or butters, that you make sure you are at minimum, drinking 64 oz. of water per day.  But that is at a minimum.  If you are active and you work out, then more is needed.

That being said, I put on the Beautycounter Body Butter on about 30 minutes before I go to sleep and never have it being a problem being to greasy and getting all over my bed sheets and comforter.

Thanks so much for commenting and if you have any questions, whatsoever, don’t hesitate to ask.

I was impressed by your opening question” “Is what I am using actually causing more harm than good? That was a great starting point because as you point out later on, many products we put on our skin contain harmful ingredients which may cause allergies and other problems.

I think that question needs to be asked about what we put on our skin and what we put inside our stomachs as well. It is good that you could not find any cons for the product so all consumers can feel comfortable about using it and you can feel confident about promoting it.

Do you think it will stop me getting wrinkly in my older age?

Judy, I am glad that you agree with my opening question.  I try to ask myself that question, for both my family and I, when it comes to what goes on our bodies, as well as in them, is, “Is what I am actually using/consuming more harmful than good?”

As far as your question, “Do you think it will stop me getting wrinkly in my older age?

While the Beautycounter Body Butter does a great job keeping skin hydrated, when it comes to the “fountain of youth” what goes into our bodies is way more important than what goes on our bodies.

First of all, most people confuse dry skin for dehydrated skin.  Second of all, if you read my article titled, “13 Best Foods for Clear, Healthy, Glowing Skin, you will find, as you probably know already, eating fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants, good fats, and help with collagen production, well help prolong the “ageing process,” but nothing will ever stop it from eventually happening.

Thanks for your great comments and question, please let me know if you have any more.

I live in Florida so lotion is a big part of my life because of being in the sun and water a lot.  You had mentioned that it doesn’t feel greasy which would be great here.  Does it have any UV protection?

I have been looking for something for a while now and can’t seem to find something good.

    Thanks for your great article.

I totally understand.  I live in the Houston area, and although we are about an hour from Galveston, Texas, 9 months out of the year, it is humid and about 90+ degrees Fahrenheit, so we are always outside, and many times in a pool or splash pad, so again, I completely understand.

The reason I am a big fan of Beautycounter is because they don’t use any harmful chemicals or ingredients when it comes to their skin care or beauty products, including their sunscreen.

I would recommend the Beautycounter Protect All Over Suncreen SPF 30.  It is what my family and I use, it works great, and you can rest assure that you are using a product that is safe.

oh I love the look of this body butter, looks so clean and minimal.

And boy I have never really stopped to check what is in my body butter and I’m often attracted to one by the smell.

Perhaps I will check this one out as I’m almost at the bottom of my body butter jar!

Unfortunately, the lotions that have the best smells, usually have synthetic fragrances and ingredients that can be harmful to your skin and body.

That is what I love about Beautycounter, they have what is called a “Never List,” which is a list of over 1,300 chemicals and ingredients that are being used in many of the U.S. skin care and cosmetic ingredients, but they will “never” use them in their products.

SJ, I definitely think you should give the Beautycounter Body Butter a try.  It will be well worth it.

Wow. this is amazing! I never use any body lotions my self because they are too greasy for me, but I might start to give it a try. On top of that, it has no cons. This lotion seems to be right up my alley. I have a question though since winter is right around the corner would it be really effective around this time?

Edward, to answer your question as to whether it will be effective in winter, is it depends.  You see, when many people ask that, especially the winter part, it tells me that they have particularly “drier skin” in the winter.

I put that in quotes for a reason.  You see, most people, confuse dehydrated skin for dry skin and there is a big difference between the two and how to heal or cure them.

Most people are dehydrated and therefore putting body butter on, is just a temporary fix.  It’s like putting lotion on a raisin.  The raisin will feel smoother for a while, but it will still have all the wrinles like a raisin.

And most people, especially in winter, drink less water because the temperature is cooler and they don’t “feel” like they need water.

So I tell you that to say, that if you don’t drink enough water in winter, it doesn’t matter what body butter you use, you will still feel like you have dry skin, within a short amount of time….but if you stay hydrated, and you use the body butter, then you will see that it will help your dry skin, and it will last for hours.

This body butter sounds like it works great. I live in Phoenix, AZ and am definitely prone to dry skin, so I need something that is really moisturizing all day. Most of the body butters I’ve tried tend to be thick and greasy. A lot of them also leave a film on my skin that doesn’t feel good against my clothes.

Would you recommend this as something that is good all day for dry skin, but doesn’t leave a thick layer? Also, is it just in the one scent or are there other ones available? I like refreshing scents or something that is not very strong. Nice review!

The Beautycounter Body Butter is definitely something that can be used from morning until night.  It has only one scent, which is too strong but it is subtle and nice.

Thank for commenting and let me know if you have anymore questions.

Hey there, great review article. I love Body Butter and to see that it includes Citrus Mimosa, I can imagine it is a pretty delicious skincare product! Same like you I avoided some brands because they are too oily, but I am going to give this a try as you noted down that it is non-greasy. Thanks for this!

You are correct, Lily, it is not too oily, which is negative for me with most Body Butters, but what I love most is the fact that the company itself, Beautycounter, has what they call a “never list,” which is a list of harmful chemical and ingredients that they will NEVER use in their skin care and beauty products.

That is a double win in my book…Yes, give the Beautycounter Body Butter a try, you won’t be disappointed! 🙂
